L’Etoile Centrale

For 40 years, this restaurant has been serving authentic Moroccan cuisine at a very reasonable cost. Popular with travelers, the restaurant’s two salons (blue or red) are outfitted with traditional low lounges and walls of faux zellij and hand-carved stucco. The menu includes more than 15 choices of tagine, but owner Ahmed Mribed also recommends his Couscous Royale with either lamb, chicken, skewered beef, or vegetables. A chicken-and-almond pastilla is also a tasty offering. The restaurant is rarely busy — though it deserves to be — and is conveniently located on the restaurant strip and close to most hotels.
